What does a hotel fire alarm, a curious dust storm, and the city of Albuquerque all have in common?... Me!

By Liz

After being fully educated in the ways of squirrels that the TOFW in Florida, I was off to sunny Albuquerque, New Mexico. First and foremost, if you are not from Albuquerque, then you have no idea how to spell Albuquerque correctly. Seriously close your eyes and spell it.

Now open them.

You spelled it wrong.

Don’t worry it took me weeks of writing it out and having to rely on spell check to finally get to where I can spell Albuquerque any day of the week--and just in time for my trip out there! Having never been to New Mexico before I was unsure of what the great state would hold for me but I was blown away by the warm reception of the women at our event!

As I sat at the booth Friday night, arriving women would not only smile and wave but would point out the Pretty Darn Funny sign and come up to talk to me multiple times through the two days. By Saturday midday I had a side ache and sore cheeks from laughing so hard and had decided the time I invested to learn how to spell Albuquerque was well worth it. In fact, the fates believed Albuquerque and I fit together so well that they sent me an early morning hotel fire alarm (turns out I CAN get completely dressed in under .25 seconds) and an impromptu dust storm to extend my stay an extra day! Both firsts for me and both very much journal worthy experiences!
